As beautiful and perfectly coordinated this dresser is to the Kalani crib, I can't say I'm entirely satisfied. Assembly wasn't super difficult only because my carpenter friend helped me. Even then, we made a couple mistakes because the instructions are ridiculously unclear and difficult to read. Be sure to assemble over a carpeted surface as it scratches incredibly easy and don't even think of trying without an electric drill. Although this item does not take long to put together, a couple of design features are rather cumbersome. For instance, the play yard mat has velcro strips that you have to feed through the bottom of the nursery center, which for a pregnant lady is difficult because you can't easily bend over the sides of the play yard, nor spend a lot of time laying on the ground trying to feel up through the play yard for the strips. Everything snaps on piece by piece, so whenever you want to move the play yard from one location to another (say, to grandma's house), you have to deconstruct and reconstruct the nursery center. It's not easily packable, but if you're planning on setting it up and hardly ever taking it elsewhere, I think it's a very good, functional product for the price. It offers more than a lot of other items in its class, such as a changing table, organizing compartments, the bassinet, and the play yard itself. Unfortunately the floor of the play yard is pretty hard, not very cushioned, but I suspect putting blankets or something down to soften the floor would fix that concern.

About Baby Trend's customer service. It is highly important that you don't waste time trying to call them! The music box that comes with the nursery center arrived damaged (no fault of Baby Trend I don't think), and I wasted 45 minutes on hold for their customer service department, only to be hung up on. I called back a few days later, and hung up on them after about 20 minutes of waiting on hold. I decided then to just go to their website and submit a customer service claim online. SO EASY! I received an email response the next day saying they would ship a brand new music box free of charge, and to not worry about having to return the old one. We bought this bed for our daughter, who was a little over 2 and ready to move out of her crib.

PROS:

- Attractive design: modern and fun but still kid-appropriate
- Solid construction: shake it and it doesn't move easily
- Decent price: not the cheapest bed out there, but far from the most expensive
- Easy to assemble: takes about an hour, all tools included, reasonably clear instructions
- Converts to a chair: we haven't done this yet, but it seems easy enough to do when the time is right, and it comes with the necessary cushions
- Rollout proof (absent lots of contortions, which our daughter sometimes does)

CONS:

- Not the most intuitive layout: because the sideboards are right in the middle of the bed, the spaces to crawl in and out are a little tight; it's not a big deal once the child gets used to it, but it's not obvious at first what the best way in/out is.
- Low headboard: as others have pointed out, it's pretty easy for little heads to get bonked on it when first getting used to the bed. We covered the headboard with a quilt and that solved the problem during the transition.

We got this changing table for three reasons: 1) It matched well with our Emily 4-1 crib, 2) I liked the look of the open shelving, and, 3) The price was good compared to other changing tables. We really debated whether or not we wanted a changing table, or if we should convert the dresser into one. This was our first child and weren't sure of what would be nice to have vs. what would be a life-saver!
Like other reviewers, we had to wait several weeks as it was back-ordered (which we didn't find out until we had ordered it). It came with several weeks to spare before the baby, but we had hoped to have everything ready earlier. We did the espresso finish to match the crib, and it looks great with the crib. I was disappointed when I opened the box and found that the shelves were MDF board and not solid wood. We were hoping to be able to repurpose it later into a functional piece of furniture, but now I'm not sure how long the quality will last. Assembly is not a complicated design, but it was frustrating. The sides attach to the rails with a bolt and threaded metal sleeves that are pre-inserted. If these don't line up perfectly, it makes assembly difficult. I had to switch some things around to get a more perfect alignment between these two.
Once assembled, it has been very stable and secure. We have found it to be very useful and can't believe we ever considered not getting a changing table. The height is perfect for us (I'm 5'10" and my wife is 5'4"). We had considered getting a nicer pad as the one that is supplied is a bit thin, but it serves its purpose and function so we have stuck with it.
Overall, it looks good and functions well, but I would have hoped for a better quality product. If you need a nice, cost-effective changing table to help you get through a couple of years, this is probably a good option. Cheapest Delta Children's Products Portable Mini Crib, Cherry

This crib was a lifesaver for us! We live in a small condo and didn't have room for a full-size crib. This was the PERFECT solution. Because it's made of wood, it looks much classier than the other alternatives we considered (which were made of white plastic tubing or were pack-and-plays). It also conforms to all the safety standards for portable cribs.

It was simple to assemble, folds very flat, and can easily roll through doorways. The platform is easy to switch from the upper to the lower position (but this design makes it impossible to put a skirt on the crib unless you are able to sew your own with openings for the levers and the parts of the platform that protrude through the slats). Only one side goes up and down, and it does take two hands to do that... but at 5 feet 5 inches tall I can easily reach in and out without having to raise or lower the side.

It differs from a standard size crib mainly in that it is not as long, so I don't anticipate that our daughter will be able to climb out of it any earlier than she would a standard size crib. We also put my friends' two year old (who is at the 90th percentile for height) into this crib once, and he fit in it just fine.

Like other reviewers, we did buy a two inch portable crib mattress (38 x 24 inches) to replace the thinner mattress that came with the crib. We love the crib so much, however, that this extra expense was no big deal. Of note, two inches is the thickest mattress that is considered safe for this crib.

I don't think this crib would be practical for families looking for something to take in the car on trips, but it's great for those without room for the full-size version or who want something that can be set up and then stored away again quickly (i.e. at Grandma's house).

At 18 months, our daughter is now 32 inches tall and weighs 27 lbs. She still sleeps just fine in this crib and hasn't climbed out once. Though it's starting to look a little cramped in there for her, she doesn't seem to mind a bit. We were able to hand a Fischer-Price aquarium on one of the short sides for her. We've also taken it to the babysitter's house in the back of our Subaru Outback. We've learned that you have to be careful with the little plastic hook in front because it can scratch the finish if you don't hold it away from the slat as you move it. Overall, we are still thrilled with this purchase and are hoping that it will last us until our daughter is ready for a regular bed.

At 24 months, our daughter was 35 inches tall and weighed 30 lbs. She was starting to look a little cramped in this crib and graduated to a Delta big-girl toddler bed. We ordered this crib after reading the glowing reviews. Sadly our experience has been very disappointing. Reasons:
- First, the packaging of this crib is really poor. Halfway through assembling the crib I found that one of the end panels was broken. We ordered a replacement and to our dismay even that arrived broken!!! I checked the packaging and there was gash on the packaging causing the end panel (no foam protection for this poor piece!!) to break. Rather than order yet another replacement we just used the 2 end panels from the two packages. Thankfully I hadn't returned the other damaged crib yet.
- Second while putting the crib together we noticed a lot of places where the paint wasn't smooth. You could easily feel slightly sharp bumps when running your finger over them. While I agree that they are not sharp for us I am a little afraid for if they can accidentally cut or bruise the baby. Maybe I am just being paranoid.
- Third: I am not very pleased with the material in the crib. The drawer feels just like an ikea drawer (even though the crib costs much more) and I was afraid of moving the pieces around while I was assembling the crib. I was constantly afraid that one of the wooden bars in the end panels would break. Seriously it feels that light.

Based on the comments from others on this there seems to be quality issues, but not always the same problem. I contacted Dream on Me directly, but they said they would only deal with the company I purchased it from (babies r us)...so 3 weeks later they have agreed to replace the side rail, but it will take yet another 1-2 weeks. Before we went to Japan I researched options for my toddler's bedding. My daughter really enjoys sleeping in her pack and play, but the mattress is not very good to sleep in every day so I bought this mattress to put on top of the regular pack and play mattress. It doesn't fit perfectly, so sometimes her pacifiers fall in the crack between the net and the mattress but not a big deal at all. (this is why I gave it four stars instead of five.)

My husband and I were looking for a "living room" bassinet for our twin babies. After doing extensive research, we bought the Twin Pack n Play. We considered getting a single pack n play, but felt the weight limit (15 lbs for the pack n play in bassinet mode) would preclude us from using it as a portable crib for longer than 1-2 months.

This pack 'n play is considerably bigger than a single. It was fairly easy to assemble, and has 2 "bassinets". Basically it is a single upper mattress, with 2 separate "baby" areas. Each has a canopy cover. The mattress itself is fairly firm. We have not yet washed and used the matching sheets (not included with the purchase).
